ONE THING TO BE PROUD OF




Jessica Elizabeth Sanchez is an American singer from San Diego, California. She is one the Top 12 finalist for the eleventh season of American Idol. Before she auditioned in American Idol she also competed in the first season of America's Got Talent!

Jessica Sanchez was born on August 4, 1995 in Chula Vista, California to Gilbert and Editha Sanchez.  Her father is Mexican Americanand originally from Texas; her mother is Filipina and originally hailed from Bataan province in the Philippines.

EARLY CAREER

America's Got Talent

Sanchez was first seen on television in the first season of America's Got Talent at the age of 11.  As each judge was allowed a "wild card," R&B singer Brandy Norwood, used hers on Jessica. Brandy commented that Jessica has shown her "that singing is the best thing ever."

We Are the World Remake

Sanchez was one of the singers in Lisa Lavie's collaboration video "We Are the World 25 for Haiti (YouTube Edition)" for charity relief for victims of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, along with previous American Idol finalist Thia Megia. The video's participants were collectively recognized as "Persons of the Week" on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer on Friday, March 19, 2010.

In 2012, Sanchez auditioned for the eleventh American Idol season and advanced to the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals she performed Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do" from the film Dreamgirls. She was one of the top five female vote getters and advanced to the top 13, and Sanchez was the only one who has received two standing ovations from the judges in two consecutive weeks.

Last night, American Idol Season 11 TOP 13 finalists compete and showcasing their talent to about 40 million people. Last night the girls were all singing songs by Whitney Houston and one of the highlights is no other than Jessica Sanchez! During the rehearsal, mentor Mary J Blige was so amazed of Jessica’s voice, even making Jimmy Iovine smile. On stage, Jessica Sanchez did her own stunning and heartfelt rendition of Whitney Houston’s classic “I Will Always Love You”. To some that’s just a very bg song to sing but it was done effortlessly last night! A standing ovation from the crowd and judges! All fans of Jessica Sanchez should vote for her and keep her on the show. American Idol needs some real talent! Someone that can really sing and that is Jessica Sanchez!
CNN's "HLN News Now" reported that Sanchez's performance of "I Will Always Love You," sung on Whitney Houston tribute night March 7, 2012, got "rave reviews," the CNN video's commentator stating that she "brought the judges to their feet." Her name was a Worldwide trend on twitter on the following day.
